Body Cupping Treatments
"Where there's stagnation, there will be pain. Remove the stagnation, and you remove the pain" - Chinese medical maxim
"Cupping" is a ancient oriental medical technique that utilizes small glass cups, or bamboo jars as suction devices used on the body to disperse and break up stagnation and congestion by drawing congested blood, fluids, energy or other humors to the surface. Once suction has occurred, cups can be gently moved across the skin, or are left in a parked position. Cupping is much like the inverse of massage in that rather than applying pressure, it uses gentle pressure to pull upward. For most clients, this is particularly relaxing and relieving. Cupping's detoxifying effect on skin and circulatory system is also significant, with a visible improvement in skin color after three to five treatments. Cupping helps remove toxins and improve blood flow thru the veins and arteries, which is especially useful for the treatment of muscle spasms.
What to expect: The discomfort of cupping is less than of the discomfort in a general deep tissue massage. Cupping marks can last up to 10-14 days, most individuals range from 5-8 days. Fatigue, hunger, and detoxing symptoms (Ie. headache, confusion, grogginess) Each individuals cupping session is unique and tailored to the individuals pain threshold and treatment course. Our massage therapist is certified and has over 3 years of hands on experience working with cupping therapy. There is a consultation before and after each appointment to address any concerns or expectations.
